some of the custom weapons you can find are just too brutal not too. Well, vehicles that use firearms can also use those same mods, but I still tend to stay infantry with my heroes anyway. Good examaple is moding the MX-2000 (vanguard starting sniper) with fire burst, rail (the one that gives +1 range) and another 30% damage incress and you max dead eye/range you can turn 1 sniper kill people across map, it's pretty insane tbh (with the incoming nerf to crits it might not be as amazing as it is now, it's still will be pretty good Originally posted by ChibiFenrir:can honestly say for the most part vehicles are not that great on heroes, you're better off with a sniper or psi assult rifle, snipers if you have the ability to mod them (like vanguard) will out put way more use and damage then you can with a vehicle, as someone said the overcharge laser tank while yeah it's good you gotta deal with sub par tank while the overcharge is on cooldown, with a sniper you're outputting that kinda damage every turn.

But as is, you can either attack or use an ability and attacking is pretty much always better for a DPS unit.Įdit: Also even if you count AOE, both Arc and Firearms have mods that grant AOE, meaning a normal DPS hero also becomes an AOE unit. If more of the abilties were free actions, or single actions that didn't end your turn, they wouldn't compete as much with just attacking. If your hero is doing 25x3 damage, your better off using other units for utility and letting the hero kill stuff. Sure early game a random ability might be good, but for the most part they don't scale. The thing is heroes have some of the highest damage in the game.

in pure damage yes but in utility? i doubt it. By the time you can actually use them (provided you're content to waste total 15 skill points or 10 if you started with piloting) you'll have tier III/IV hero weapons which outperform pretty much any vehicle.
